BCL Supports Four Local Businesses During its 10-Year Anniversary Month

We’ve enjoyed 13 years in the neighborhood of Gowanus. Interested in learning about our new location in Clinton Hill? Click here. Want to learn about lunch options in Clinton Hill? Click here.

This past April 15th, Brooklyn Creative League celebrated its 10-year anniversary. Our anniversary afforded us a rare opportunity to take stock of where we have been and look forward to where we hope to go.

As a coworking space that’s rooted in the community, we wanted to express our gratitude to everyone who has been a part of BCL’s journey over the past decade: members, current and past; business partners; and fellow small-businesses in our Gowanus neighborhood.

Looking forward, we also wanted to nurture the seeds of our future growth as a foundry for community capitalism. So we decided to sponsor a month of events that celebrated BCL’s unique community—past and present—while also supporting the local businesses that will drive our growth in the coming years.

Below is a glimpse at just some of events and parties we sponsored throughout our month-long anniversary celebration. Thank you for helping us build a business that is a joy to run. Thank you for helping us demonstrate that you can build a solid business on the values of trust, good will, and mutual benefit. May our next 10 be as satisfying as the last 10 have been!

With deepest gratitude,
Erin & Neil

Beer Tasting
Just a few blocks away from BCL is Threes Brewing, a Brooklyn-based brewery with a tap-room and event-space right here in Gowanus. A group of members attended a private beer tasting, selecting from pale ales, IPAs, pilsners and more.”

Gowanus Walking Tour
Author and journalist, Joseph Alexiou, led a Historical Walking Tour of Gowanus for those who were interested. As a tour guide for Brooklyn Brainery, Alexiou is a lover of history with a passion for Gowanus, who wrote the book: Gowanus: Brooklyn’s Curious Canal.

Pie Party!
Gowanus is also home to Four and Twenty Blackbirds, a quaint pie bakery located a few blocks north of BCL on 3rd avenue. Featured in Bon Apetit, Time Out New York, and Travel & Leisure, it’s a must-visit pie shop in Brooklyn.

Members were treated to a pie-tasting during lunch and got to sample from the likes of salted caramel apple (a classic), lemon chess, black bottom oat, and more.

Celebration Party
We held a celebratory bash at Littlefield, a performance and art space here in Gowanus. It was great to see so many members come together to have a good time. We ate, drank, played games, and took plenty of photos.
